About Studio 11

Studio11 is a curatorial platform dedicated to promoting the artistic practices of Southeast Asia on an international scale. It was born from the urgency to rethink the geographies of contemporary art and to foreground narratives, sensibilities, and genealogies that Western culture has long marginalized or made legible only through its own interpretive codes.

In a world still shaped by extractive dynamics—symbolic as well as economic—Studio11 positions itself as a space of listening and restitution. We support artists who engage with plural identities, postcolonial memory, vulnerable ecological relations, and forms of everyday resistance. For us, art is never a neutral gesture: it is a device that defines what becomes visible and what remains outside the frame.

We work to build sustainable connections between Asian and European art scenes, avoiding exoticizing or hierarchical narratives. Our mission is to foster a circulation that does not assimilate but amplifies, recognizing Southeast Asian artists' ability to produce autonomous, complex, and necessary ways of seeing the present.

Through exhibitions, institutional collaborations, and editorial projects, Studio11 aims to redefine how these practices enter the contemporary discourse: not as an "emerging" phenomenon, but as an essential contribution to imagining more equitable futures.

Above all, Studio11 is an invitation to shift one’s gaze to unlearn, to listen, and to recognize in alterity a possibility for transformation.
